Whether online or in person, being a good salesperson has always been challenging, especially during times of financial crisis. There are many salespeople, but few GOOD salespeople. See how you can improve your sales process.
Follow a process
In addition to knowing how to captivate an audience, sales require strategic organization. For this reason, it's very important to create a process, similar to a sales funnel. Define your steps according to your audience and the product/service being sold.
Choose the triggers you will use, how you will approach the audience, nurture their interest, provide information, make the sale, and encourage them to refer others… This process prevents you from losing control, ensures a comfortable flow, and provides more security to the salesperson.
Make an effort to plan
People think that selling begins when someone approaches the customer and starts to expose the product. However, the sale begins much earlier.
Before the client receives your proposal, it's important that they already have some familiarity with the product and can see value in it. So, present it on social media, talk about the benefits in other ways. It's not always necessary to make a direct sale.
Have support
No one does anything alone, not even selling. This means you need to gain support and partnerships. Contact people, suggest events and collaborations to start boosting your network.
Additionally, talk to your friends who have businesses that can support and refer you to more people. There's no such thing as a solitary salesperson, make as many partnerships as you can with different areas and discover how to grow within each of them.
Knowledge
You know you need to know your product, but it's not just that. You need to know your customer, and that's the most difficult part. You will only be able to attract the attention of the right people when you understand your customer profile and invest in it.
A good salesperson knows how to interact with the right people. There is a pattern of behavior and interest in the people who buy from you. When you discover what these are, you'll be able to significantly increase sales.
Persuasive marketing
Marketing is that stage that comes before the sale, and it's not just about posting a nice picture on Instagram. A good salesperson does not limit themselves to that. You need to learn about colors, paid traffic, loyalty programs, persuasive communication, archetypes, among other things.
Of course, all marketing must be in line with the reality of the product or service. This means it must be honest. Persuasive language is meant to help you be honest in a more attractive way, not to lie or conceal facts.
